The business parks are the heart of it. Stafford has more workplaces than homes, and most of those workplaces empty out in the early evening. A single marked vehicle can cover several parks on one route, checking rear doors, dock plates, fenced yards and lighting, and photographing anything found open. Where a park has one entrance, a static post at that gate with a visitor log is the simpler answer.

Overnight is the Stafford shift

The hours that matter here run from the last employee leaving to the first delivery arriving. Overnight, the problems are trailer and cargo theft on US-90A, catalytic converter theft in hotel and apartment lots, dumping in empty yards, and break-ins through the back doors of flex buildings. Weekends stretch the empty window to more than two days, which is when yards and laydown areas need a person present. In summer the apartment pools add an afternoon and evening post; from November through December, The Fountains and the freeway retail add lot presence in the evenings.

Events, hotels and the college

Stafford Centre hosts concerts, graduations and conventions that fill Cash Road with traffic and parking for a few hours at a time, and the hotels along US-59 take the overflow. Event posts, hotel lobby coverage and overnight lot patrol are set up per date. The community college campus on Cash Road and the municipal school district campuses have their own peak hours around dismissal and evening programs, and the same officer pool covers them.
