The license

Private security in Texas is licensed by the Department of Public Safety under Occupations Code chapter 1702. A company that provides guard services holds a Class B security services contractor license; its officers hold individual registrations and commissions tied to that license. Price Protection Security holds license number B09430601. The number appears in the footer of every page on this site, on the company’s vehicles and advertising as the statute requires, and on every proposal.

What the license obliges us to do

Holding the license is not a formality. The company must employ a licensed manager who has passed the state’s examination, run department background checks on every officer before they work, use approved training and keep the records, carry the insurance the statute requires, and report certain events to the department. Officers must complete continuing education to renew. A company that fails those duties can lose the license, and its officers’ registrations with it, which is why the license status is worth checking at every renewal and not only at signing.

The marks we display

Why we put the number everywhere

A license number on a footer is easy to ignore and easy to check, and we would rather be checked. The number is on this site, on the company’s vehicles and on every proposal because a property manager comparing security companies should be able to confirm in a minute that the company is licensed for the work and that the officers it sends are registered to it. That check protects the client, and it protects licensed companies from being undercut by unlicensed ones.

How to verify us, and anyone else

Ask for the license number. Open the Department of Public Safety’s public license search for private security and look it up. Confirm that the name on the license matches the name on your proposal and contract, that the class is B and that the status is active. Then ask for the registration or commission number of any officer who is a fixture on your property and look that up too. It takes a few minutes and it is the single most useful thing a buyer can do before signing with any security company, including this one.
