What does event security do?

Before the doors open

The officers arrive early, walk the venue with the host or the coordinator, confirm the plan: which doors are entrances and which are exits only, whether bags are checked, whether a list or tickets are enforced, where the cash is, where the bar is, what the host wants done about uninvited guests, who calls the ejections and who the officer reports to. Posts are taken before the first guest arrives.

The entrance

The entrance sets the tone. Officers check what the plan says to check, quickly and politely, keep the line moving, refuse prohibited items by the venue’s list and hand anything unusual to a lead or the host. A calm, efficient door tells a crowd the event is run properly and removes most problems before they get in.

The floor and the lot

On the floor, officers move, watch and talk. The guest who has had too much gets a conversation and a ride; the argument gets distance and a word; the person who does not belong is walked out. Officers do not use force except in defense and never chase; a situation that needs enforcement gets police. In the lot, an officer watches cars, helps traffic and escorts guests who ask. Cash boxes are walked to the safe with an officer.

The end

Everyone leaves at once. Officers move to the exits and the lot for the last half hour, keep the flow orderly, deal with the guests who do not want to go and stay through load-out where that is the arrangement.
