What to have ready when you call

The date and the hours, including set-up and load-out if you want those covered. The venue and its layout: entrances, parking, where the bar is, where the cash is. The guest count and the kind of event: a wedding, a quinceañera, a corporate party, a church festival, a concert, a fundraiser, a product launch. Whether alcohol is served. Whether you want bags checked or a guest list enforced. Who the officer reports to on the night. With those, dispatch can quote and a supervisor can plan.

How the post is sized

By the crowd, the layout and the plan, not by a formula. A private party of a hundred in a rented hall with one entrance is one officer at the door and the lot. A corporate event of five hundred in a hotel ballroom with a bar is two or three, covering the entrance, the floor and the exits at the end. A festival with several thousand across a field is a team with a lead, posts at every gate, roving officers in the crowd and a plan for the parking. What happens on the day

The officers arrive early, walk the venue with the host or the coordinator, confirm the plan and take their posts before the doors open. They check bags where the plan says so, manage the line, keep the entrance clear, watch the floor and the lot, handle the guest who has had too much with a conversation and a ride, and stay through load-out if that is the arrangement. Anything that happens is written up the same day, and the host receives the report.

Booking and cost

Single events are priced by the hour with a minimum per officer, at the unarmed rate for almost all events and the armed rate where the host has a specific reason. Book as early as the date is fixed; dispatch can staff an event with a day’s notice and often less.
