What is a guard tour system?

How it works

Tags are fixed at the checkpoints the client cares about: the pool gate, the far stairwell, the dumpster enclosure, the roof door, the dock, the fence corner. The officer scans each on each round, the system records the time, and the record is exported for the client and the supervisor. Vehicle patrol routes use GPS points the same way. A missed checkpoint shows up in the morning as a gap in the record instead of as a complaint three weeks later.

What it proves

That the officer was at the tag at that time. That the rounds were made at the interval the post orders set, or were not. That a route was varied rather than repeated. It is hard to argue with, which is its value to a client who wants to know that the hours paid for were spent walking the property.

What it does not prove

That the officer looked at anything. A scan at the pool gate does not test the latch; a scan at the roof door does not check that it is locked. That is why Price Protection treats the tour record as one input to the daily review rather than the whole of it: a supervisor reads the tour log alongside the daily activity report and the incident reports, and a round with every checkpoint scanned and nothing observed on a night the client says was not quiet gets a conversation.

Using it on your property

Where a client has a tour system, our officers use it and the client sees the record.
