What is a static post?

The point that is never unattended

The value of a static post is that the point it covers always has someone at it. A gated community with a staffed gatehouse has every vehicle checked at every hour; a warehouse with an officer at the dock has every trailer watched; a tower with a desk has every visitor announced. The post is defined by its location and its hours, and the post orders say what the officer does there: who is admitted, what is inspected, what is logged, and how far the officer may walk without leaving the point uncovered.

When a static post is right

When one point matters more than the rest of the property, when the volume at that point is steady enough to keep an officer occupied, and when the client wants a person visible there at all times. Gatehouses, lobbies, docks, site entrances during deliveries, emergency department doors, pharmacy counters, event entrances. When the risk is spread across a large site with no single choke point, a patrol serves better, and many properties run both: a static post at the gate and a patrol through the grounds.

What it records

Every admission, refusal, delivery, contractor, visitor and unusual event, with a time, in the daily activity report. Cameras at the post are watched between arrivals. On a 24-hour static post, the handover is written into the log so the point is never uncovered between shifts.
